Organ Donations From People Who Died From Opioid Overdose Increase In New England

Here's one unexpected consequence of the opioid crisis in our region: Since 2010, there has been an over 20 percent increase in organ donations from patients who died of an overdose, according to the New England Organ Bank.

Today in New England, one in four people who decide to donate their organs died of a drug overdose, and that's a larger proportion of donors than in other parts of the country.
