FBI Director James Comey has notified members of Congress that the FBI has reopened its investigation into the handling of classified information in connection with the private email server Hillary Clinton used while secretary of state.

In a letter to various congressional committee chairmen, Comey said that the FBI has discovered new emails in an unrelated case, and will take steps to allow investigators to determine whether the emails contain classified information. Comey added, “the FBI cannot yet assess whether or not this material may be significant, and I cannot predict how long it will take us to complete this additional work.”

Comey's announcement was welcome news to Donald Trump as he was campaigning in Manchester, New Hampshire, today, and it became a major focus of his speech.
