How Would A 5 Cent Bag Fee Impact Boston?

Almost 40 Massachusetts cities have either banned plastic bags or levied a fee on them, and Boston may be next. The City Council is currently considering a proposed ordinance to add a 5 cent fee to any reusable plastic, recyclable paper or compostable plastic bag sold by a retailer in Boston.

The vote has been put off until 2017, but we wanted to talk more about the reason cities introduce these ordinances.
