House Majority Whip Steve Scalese of Louisiana and four others were wounded today when a gunman opened fire during a baseball practice. This was the last practice before Thursday night’s scheduled charity game between Republicans and Democrats at Nationals Park.

The gunman, identified as 66-year-old James Hodgkinson from Illinois, was killed after a shootout with police.
