Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is stepping into local elections in Cambridge and Somerville, endorsing 18 candidates for city council, alderman and school board seats.

Sanders spoke at a public rally in Somerville Monday to talk about his national grassroots movement, something he's calling a revolution. So far, it's had mixed results.

But some Cambridge Democrats are calling the move counterproductive, saying that this endorsement is sowing divide in a time when progressives need to unite.
