What is the connection between childhood adversity and poor health? That's the question that Dr. Nadine Burke Harris explores in her new book, "The Deepest Well: Healing the Long-Term Effects of Childhood Adversity."

Burke Harris writes about the experience of giving her patients the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) survey and the way that trauma affects children for a lifetime. Research now shows that experiencing four or more ACEs is associated with significantly increased risk for heart disease, stroke, cancer, COPD, diabetes, Alzheimer's and suicide.
