James Carroll's new novel, "The Cloister," spans centuries as it explores the core questions of Catholicism through the story of Peter Abelard and Heloise in 12th century France, and a post-World War II friendship between Father Michael Kavanagh and Rachel Vedette in New York City.

Carroll will be discussing "The Cloister" on Tuesday, March 6, at 7 p.m. at the Harvard Book Store.
