Working dogs, like police K-9 units, can do a lot of good for people. But sometimes, they need humans' help, too.

James Lamonte runs the K-9 PTSD Center in his native Seekonk. He helps working dogs recover from PTSD they've experienced during their careers. Lamonte directed "Healing Dakota," a film about the dog that inspired his work. It airs at the Boston Film Festival on Sept. 29.

He joins WBUR's Radio Boston to talk about his work and how it can be used to recognize PTSD in humans.

This segment aired on September 28, 2023.
