Jerod Mayo already made enough headlines by taking over for six-time Super Bowl-winner Bill Belichick as head coach of the New England Patriots.

But he also is making history: he's the team's first Black head coach ever.

Mayo joins a small fraternity of Black head coaches in a league that struggles with representation above the player ranks, and he's not shying away from the conversation.

To understand this moment for Mayo and the Patriots, we talk with  Shalise Manza Young, former Patriots reporter and columnist for Yahoo Sports, and Taylor Kyles, a Patriots reporter with CLNS Media.

This segment aired on February 6, 2024.
