When Guy Ben-Aharon founded an event series in Boston called "The Jar" almost five years ago, he was thinking about a big social problem: "The fact that it’s difficult to make friends as adults." Ben-Aharon and other organizers choose different meeting spots, such as a person's home or a café, to host a night of conversation and storytelling.

"The Jar is a 21st-century model to help people create, catalyze and deepen meaningful relationships with people who are like them and not like them," Ben-Aharon said. "It allows people to show up fully as themselves."

This winter, "The Jar" is hosting a series called "Winter: A Wave of Love," in which they ask participants to choose a piece of art that symbolizes love and connection in their lives. Participants Jerrell Cox, Wendy and Evan Grossman and Mona Bazarghani shared their stories with WBUR's Radio Boston.

This segment aired on February 13, 2024.
