For many years, hip-hop has been “a school unaccredited,” as Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def) said in his 2000 song called, of all things, “Hip Hop.”

Berklee College of Music is trying to take people to class about what the genre is all about.

The institution is holding its third annual International Hip-Hop Symposium Thursday evening on Berklee’s campus, and a number of key figures, including two Boston DJs, joined Radio Boston to spotlight hip-hop both locally and around the globe.

This segment aired on March 7, 2024.
