Rachel Kahn, a Lexington, Massachusetts native and student at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, joins Radio Boston. Kahn talks about the protests at Columbia, the police response and efforts by student journalists to cover the events as they unfold.

Editor's note: At the time of this interview, New York City Police had yet to release information about how many of those arrested at protests at Columbia University and CUNY were unaffiliated with the schools. Since then, New York Mayor Eric Adams told NPR in an interview that a preliminary review of arrests showed that "over 40% of those who participated in Columbia and CUNY were not from the school and they were outsiders." The NYPD has yet to release more details.

This segment aired on May 1, 2024.
