Growing up, Rachael Cerrotti always knew that her grandmother, Hana Dubova, was a Jewish Holocaust survivor. And by the time she made it to college, Cerrotti wanted to learn more about her grandmother's life. So over the next year, the two of them sat down for oral histories.

Her grandmother's story is a dramatic tale of World War II, but even Cerrotti had no idea how hearing the story would transform the next eight years her life. Erika Lantz (@ejlantz) of WBUR's Kind World (@WBURKindWorld) tells us how it happened.

This segment aired on January 5, 2018.
