Marblehead Mourns Fallen Soldier

MARBLEHEAD, MA - June 28, 2005 - Army Staff Sgt. Christopher Piper is the first Marblehead soldier on active duty to die since the Vietnam War. The 43-year-old was on his second tour of Afghanistan when a bomb exploded near his convoy earlier this month. Many local residents turned out to pay their respects yesterday at Piper's funeral.
