The Lessons of Katrina
By Bob Oakes
Listen to story (Real Audio)
Boston - September 15, 2005 - Hurricane Katrina has many experts reevaluating disaster preparedness plans.
Earlier this week, Bob Oakes spoke with Edward Flynn, the state's secretary of public safety, who said the state is modifying its plans.
But Boston is largely responsible for its own planning, especially for mass evacuations. Oakes speaks with Carlo Boccia, director of Homeland Security for Boston and eight surrounding municipalities.
Boccia reflects on how his thinking changed after Katrina.
