Listen to story (Real Audio)
BOSTON, Mass. - June 04, 2007 - The granddaughter of Sigmund Freud, arguably the most famous psychologist ever, says she entered the field of psychology seemingly by accident.
"Right after college I went to social work school. in my 40s I got a PHD in social welfare. Then I became a professor at Simmons, and there I taught psychology to social work students. So I didn't really become a psychologist, except in a roundabout way, I ended up teaching psychological theories."
Sophie Freud, age 82, lives in Lincoln, and teaches at Brandeis. She's the author of a new book 'Living in the Shadow of the Freud Family.'
