MGH Doc Heads to Iraq

BOSTON, Mass. - November 09, 2007 - While the war in Iraq can seem like a distant reality for those here on the home front, one Massachusetts doctor has decided to make it his immediate reality.
Tomorrow, Cameron Wright is leaving for Anbar Province to work as an Army doctor there for three months.
The thoracic surgeon from Massachusetts General Hospital has never served in the military before, nor does he come from a military family. But when his son joined the Marines and was sent to Iraq, Dr. Wright felt he needed to do more to support, not only his son but also other US troops, and the war effort. So, at 52-years-old, he joined the Army Reserves.
WBUR's Bob Oakes visited Dr. Cameron Wright on his last day at MGH, as he was about to ship out to Iraq.
