By Bob Oakes
Listen to story (Real Audio)
BOSTON, Mass. - January 22, 2008 - As Massachusetts continues to roll out its health coverage law, there's a lot of talk about affordability. The current system, with its incentives and rewards, doesn't often encourage saving money.
Now the largest insurer in the state, Blue Cross Blue Shield, has devised a new way to pay doctors and hospitals. The company's Vice President for Health Care Services, Andrew Dreyfus joins WBUR's Bob Oakes to outline the alternative.
And, to consider its possibilities, Paul Levy also joins the conversation. He's President of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Andrew Dreyfus starts the discussion by explaining what he thinks is wrong with the status quo.
