(Photo: Radio Boston) SALEM, Mass. - April 25, 2008 - This week on Morning Edition we've reported on the Bay State's efforts to develop renewable energy projects and capitalize on the growing "green" industries. At the local level too, cities and towns are getting involved. They report that energy audits, more efficient light bulbs, solar panels, and wind turbines are paying off, even in these unstable economic times. In Salem, a blue collar city is treading the same path as more affluent towns. But its biggest taxpayer is an old power plant that burns coal. WBUR's David Boeri visits the North Shore city to report on going green in a pale economy.
