Convention Notebook Day 4
By Bob Oakes

Listen to story (Real Audio)

DENVER, CO - August 28, 2008 - It was one of those moments that not only changes story-lines for the media, but it can also change minds.

The speech by VP candidate Joe Biden will not go down as one of his most-memorable. In fact, some delegates were trying to slip out of the convention hall early to begin the long walk to their buses. Until, from the holding room from behind the podium, out stepped Barack Obama.

It was his first appearance in the convention hall, and arguably, at that moment, the Biden speech was pretty much relegated to-history. All of this week's drama over the Clinton's melted away, and this convention became Obama's.

Whether they consciously realized it or not, it was THE moment many of the delegates had been waiting for.

Take Angie Crouse, a Brookline native and Hillary Clinton delegate, who now lives in John McCain country: Tempe Arizona...

Now the question is: will the millions of Democrats and undecided potential voters who are not here in Denver get that same "yeah," that same feeling about Obama?

Its a huge challenge for him, and for his speech tonight, before 70 thousand people at the Denver Bronchos football stadium.
