Kennedy Will Not Return for Fall Session
HYANNIS PORT, Mass. - September 07, 2008 - Senator Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) will stay at home as Congress reconvenes for the fall "lame duck" session this week. Kennedy is undergoing treatment for brain cancer. An aide to the senator issued this statement:
"As Senator Kennedy said two weeks ago in Denver, he intends to be on the floor of the United States Senate next January when we begin to write the next great chapter of American progress. Senator Kennedy's doctors are pleased with his progress so far and have recommended that he continue to work from home through the fall."
