Boston Police Arrest Suspect In Fatal Fourth Of July Shooting

An arrest has been made in a death investigation in Massachusetts.

Boston police say 32-year-old Michael Carleton of Mattapan was arrested Tuesday on an outstanding warrant in connection to a Fourth of July homicide in the neighborhood of Dorchester.

Thirty-six-year-old Deondra Lee suffered multiple gunshot wounds that evening and later died at Boston Medical Center.

Hours before Lee was shot, another shooting occurred on Fayston Street in Dorchester, near a group of young children playing in a bouncy house at a party. That shooting injured four men, one critically.

Carleton will be arraigned on a murder charge in Roxbury District Court.

An attorney for Carleton has not been immediately identified. Police continue to investigate the circumstances around the shooting and are asking anyone with information to reach out to detectives.
