BOSTON, Mass. - August 01, 2007 - Boston police officer Bill Willis has seen a disturbing rise in youth crime during his 21 years patrolling the city's streets. Instead of just locking them up, Willis also wanted to find out why kids turn to violence.

So, he decided to make a documentary about their stories, in hopes that fewer young lives would be cut short by violence or wasted away in jail.

"Shot In The hood" is being screened in the Ninth Annual Roxbury Film Festival, which starts Wednesday. Producer and Director Bill Willis joins WBUR's Bob Oakes to talk about the documentary.
