DA: Officer Shoots, Kills Boston Man Who Drove At Police After Alleged Drug Deal In Lynn

Authorities say a 23-year-old Boston man shot by Lynn police after he drove a vehicle toward an officer following an alleged heroin deal has died.

Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett confirmed Tuesday that 23-year-old Rafael Suazo died Monday night at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Suazo was shot late Monday morning by an undercover officer conducting a drug investigation. Police say Suazo was selling heroin to two other people.

Blodgett says Suazo drove toward an officer and knocked him to the ground when he showed his badge. An officer fired one shot at the vehicle, hitting the driver the head.

The officer who fired the shot is an 18-year veteran. Authorities didn't release a name.

The injured officer was treated at a hospital and released.

The Essex County district attorney's office is investigating the shooting.
