‘Playing in the Dark’: A Roundtable In-Conversation with Zanele Muholi

Artist Zanele Muholi, curator Renée Mussai and historian Hlonipha Mokoena discuss Muholi’s series “Somnyama Ngonyama: Hail the Dark Lioness” -- Muholi’s series of self-portraits addressing race, beauty and pride. Music and image projections weave in and out as the discussions carry on, with appearances from special guests.

This event showcases transgender and nonbinary models and performers in celebration of the trans community. There will be music, drag performances, a fashion show and spoken word after a meet-and-greet cocktail hour with the performers.
