Nearly 50 years after the Boston’s infamous busing crisis, the pain from court-ordered school desegregation lingers — and the public school system itself remains intensely segregated.

Now, as the city looks to elect a new mayor, and possibly bring back an elected school committee, some hope things could finally change for the better.
