The Mega Awesome Super Huge Wicked Fun Podcast Playdate Returns to WBUR CitySpace

After a four-year wait, WBUR’s Mega Awesome Super Huge Wicked Fun Podcast Playdate is back in person at CitySpace at The Lavine Broadcast Center. The two-day festival will feature live performances from beloved children’s podcasts – WBUR’s Circle Round, American Public Media’s Brains On!, Vermont Public Radio’s But Why and Gimlet’s Story Pirates. The kidcasters will delve into a wide array of topics such as the magic of how our brains work; a day in the life of farm animals; the lessons of international folk tales; and the joy of kids' comedy sketches.

Join WBUR on Saturday, April 23 or Sunday, April 24 at 890 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston for Circle Round and Brains On! in the morning, and But Why and Story Pirates in the afternoon, with a musical picnic lunch in between. Each act will be 45-minutes with audience interaction. Between acts, fans can meet their favorite podcast hosts, producers and voices. Tickets for the Playdate go on sale Tuesday, March 15. Circle Round, 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
Circle Round adapts folktales from around the world into radio plays for kids ages 3 to 10. Featuring top talent and original music, episodes explore universal topics such as friendship, persistence, creativity and generosity.

Brains On!, 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
Brains On! is a science podcast for curious kids and adults. Co-hosted each week by kid scientists and public radio reporters, episodes investigate everything from the science behind sneezing to translating the purr of cats.

Musical Picnic Lunch, 12:00 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Bring your favorite lunch or purchase one at CitySpace’s snack shack and join us for a musical performance to be announced.

But Why, 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.
But Why is a show where kids ask the questions and adults find the answers. Episodes tackle topics large and small about nature, words and even the end of the world.

Story Pirates, 2:00 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.
Story Pirates turns kids' stories into comedy and songs. Episodes inspire kids to create, bringing laughter to listeners of all ages.
