What you need to know about the Massachusetts ballot questions

WBUR and WCVB partnered for a special series from Oct. 15 through Oct. 18 to help Massachusetts voters understand the 2024 ballot questions.

Watch the debates below:

Question 1 debate: State auditor authority

Question 2 debate: MCAS as a graduation requirement

Question 4 debate: Legalization of therapeutic psychedelics

Question 5 debate: Tipped worker wages

Question 3, about whether ride-hailing drivers should be allowed to unionize, was not debated live, but you can read more about that issue here.

If you want to study up, you can consult all of our ballot question explainers here, and read our voter guide that covers the various ways to cast your ballot in Massachusetts.

In this collaboration, WCVB Channel 5 broke down one of the ballot questions in their nightly newscast, and the following morning, WBUR and WCVB broadcast a live debate on that same ballot question, hosted by WBUR’s Tiziana Dearing.

The debates aired at 9 a.m. and were simulcast on wbur.org, WBUR's app, WCVB.org and WCVB’s on-demand app Very Local. NewsCenter 5 newscasts at 5 p.m., 10 p.m. and again at 11 p.m covered the ballot questions each night.
