Cianci to Work at XV Beacon

Former Providence Mayor Vincent "Buddy" Cianci has already lined up a job for after his release from federal prison next week.

He plans to come to Boston to work in advertising at the swank, boutique hotel, XV Beacon.

The job offer was made by the hotel's owner and Providence native, Paul Roiff.

Roiff's spokesman George Regan says Roiff doesn't know Cianci, but respects what the former mayor did for Providence.

"Buddy Cianci's a brilliant man who obviously made a bad mistake," Regan said. "So does it help the hotel? Probably not, but Paul Roiff just wants to do the right thing."

Cianci was convicted of racketeering and conspiracy in 2002.

This program aired on May 22, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
