Boston Councilor Chuck Turner Indicted; Ex-Sen. Wilkerson Faces Extra Charge

Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner has been indicted on charges of attempted extortion, conspiracy and giving false statements to FBI agents in the ongoing corruption probe at the Massachusetts Statehouse and Boston City Hall.

The indictment also adds the new charge of conspiracy to the list of other charges leveled against former State Sen. Dianne Wilkerson.

The latest charge against Wilkerson comes a day after she pleaded not guilty to eight counts of attempted extortion for allegedly accepting a total of $23,500 in bribes to help get a liquor license for a nightclub.

Turner has protested his innocence at public rallies, at one point suggesting he may be guilty of nothing more than a campaign finance violation.
