Man Shot Near Harvard Dorm Dies; No Arrests Made

A former Salem State College student has died after he was found shot at a Harvard University dormitory.

Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone said 21-year-old Justin Cosby of Cambridge died Tuesday morning after being shot in a stairwell inside the Kirkland House dormitory Monday afternoon.

Leone said only students were supposed to be able to access the house with an electronic pass card.

"It's presently unclear how access occurred to Mr. Crosby or other members who may have been at the location who weren't Harvard students," Leone said.

His mother, Denise Cosby, told The Boston Globe she didn't know why her son was at Harvard.

No arrests have been made. Cambridge police are looking for several people they believe were involved.

In a statement, Harvard said the shooting appeared to be "isolated."

Students inside the dormitory were told to remain there for several hours as police interviewed potential witnesses. Harvard is in the midst of final exams.
