NY Man Pleads Not Guilty In Harvard Shooting

A New York City songwriter has pleaded not guilty to murder and armed robbery charges in the killing of a 21-year-old man inside a Harvard University dormitory.

Jabrai Jordan Copney was arraigned Wednesday in Middlesex Superior Court.

Prosecutors say 19-year-old Copney and two other men planned to steal marijuana and cash from Cambridge resident Justin Cosby on May 18.

The men did not attend Harvard, though Copney's girlfriend did.

Nineteen-year-old Blayn Jiggetts, of Mount Vernon, N.Y., has also been charged. A third suspect remains at large. Police have not said who they believe the triggerman was.

Copney is being held without bail.

Copney's compositions have been recorded by various artists, including R&B group New Edition.

This program aired on July 22, 2009. The audio for this program is not available.
