Prudential Center Evacuated Because Of Flooding

Hundreds of people have been evacuated from the Prudential Center.

Boston fire officials said a water pipe burst within a cooling tower, causing a power outage and water damage. Most of the elevators in the 52-story building flooded and caused elevators to stop working. People had to evacuate down the stairs without air conditioning. About 2,000 people work in the building.

"It took awhile to get down but everyone was very calm," said Maeve Miccio, who walked down 35 flights of stairs.

Firefighters have been going floor by floor making sure everyone has been safely evacuated. The building could be closed for several hours. No injuries have been reported.

The Prudential Center is the second-tallest building in Boston.
