Big Dig Insurer Makes $900,000 Payment To Mass.

Massachusetts has collected another $900,000 from Big Dig insurer American International Group as part of the insurer's settlement of workers compensation insurance premium issues.

Under the 2007 agreement, AIG paid $58.5 million to the state after a review by the Attorney General's office found the company had failed to return excess profits to the state as required by its contract.

The $58.5 million included $26 million in losses to the state, with the rest in interest. The money was returned to the Big Dig.

Last August, AIG paid an additional $200,000 to the Commonwealth to reconcile premiums not yet paid out. This year, AIG made another payment of $900,000.
