Weekend Snow Storm Lingers

It seems like it is the snow storm that will not go away. Snow is expected to continue through Sunday afternoon, after starting to fall overnight Friday. Channel Five Meteorologist David Brown said most locations picked upwards of six inches of snow on Saturday. "In the overnight hours of Saturday to Sunday we're picking up an additional three inches of snow" Brown said. "So when all is said and done, a steady six to 12 inch snowfall has fallen."

Roads and highways across the state were snow covered early Sunday morning. Luisa Paiwonsky, highway administrator for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation said the blowing and drifting of snow caused problems for crews trying to clear the roads. "The overnight snow was a little bit more than expected and it has hung on a little bit longer but nothing outside of what we had prepared for." The speed limit on all Massachusetts highways was reduced to 40 miles per hour.

The storm was expected to wind down Sunday afternoon.
