Beige Book Points To 'Unequal' Recovery Across State

The Federal Reserve's "Beige Book," released Wednesday, provides a mixed assessment of the New England economy.

The survey reports solid growth in manufacturing and information technology, but it also reports many businesses are still not hiring, and retail sales are dragging.

To shed more light on the local economy, WBUR was joined on Thursday by Alan Clayton-Matthews, a professor of public policy at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
