WBUR-FM received the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Overall Excellence Award Monday night. At the annual ceremony held in New York, the Radio Television Digital News Association presented the journalism award to WBUR Managing Director Of News And Programming Samuel Fleming.
"Amazing work work is produced when reporters, editors and producers do exceptional work on ordinary stories, and who, when confronted with a huge story, go beyond exceptional to extraordinary," Fleming said during his acceptance speech on behalf of the station.
WBUR joins NBC News, CBS News Radio and other media organizations in receiving the award, named after pioneering journalism legend Edward R. Murrow.
“Edward R. Murrow is synonymous with journalism excellence,” said RTDNA Chairman Mark Kraham in a release. “This dinner not only serves as an opportunity to have journalism’s best in the same room, but also as a way to honor Murrow’s extraordinary legacy.”
RTNDA has given out Murrow awards since 1971.
