Sizing Up District Congressional Races
ResumeRepublicans across the state are standing by 10th Congressional District GOP candidate Jeff Perry. Earlier this week, a woman strip-searched by a Wareham police officer when she was a 14-year-old in 1991 said Perry, then a Wareham police sergeant, stood by and did nothing.
Thursday, the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, Richard Tisei, called Perry a "strong candidate" and said Perry is "doing a good job explaining" his role in the strip search.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker is scheduled to appear alongside Perry at a rally in Dennis Saturday.
Perry's race against Democrat Bill Keating is the only contest for an open seat in the Massachusetts congressional delegation, and is getting the most attention of any congressional race.
But some of the incumbents in other districts are facing tough challenges from Republicans. WBUR's Bob Oakes speaks with reporters and editors from across the state about the challenges to Democratic incumbent Reps. John Olver, Richard Neal, Jim McGovern and Niki Tsongas.
