Funeral Home Employees Face Penalties For Body Mix-Up

Four employees of a Brookline funeral home could face fines or lose their licenses following a mix-up involving two dead bodies.

Stanetsky Memorial Chapels is under investigation after allegedly burying two women in the wrong plots, then switching them.

George Weber director of the state division of professional licensure, says the most concerning accusation is that the families were not notified of the mistake.

"That's very troubling, and an extremely serious charge, and if proven, would result in severe penalty in all likelihood," Weber said.

An administrative law judge will hold a trial and make a recommendation to the board of funeral directors, Weber said.
