Arrest Made, Murder Charges In Mattapan Slayings

A Mattapan man was arrested Monday in connection with the shooting deaths of three adults and a 2-year-old on the neighborhood's Woolson Street — brutal killings that rocked the city in late September.

Dwayne Moore, 33, has been charged with four counts of murder and one count of assault with intent to murder, along with other related charges, according to a joint statement from the Boston Police Department and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.

Moore is in police custody and will be arraigned Tuesday morning in Dorchester District Court.

Early on Sept. 28, Levaughn Washum-Garrison and Simba Martin were found shot and killed on Woolson Street. Eyanna Flonory and her 2-year-old son, Amanihotep Smith, were also found shot and killed. A fifth victim, Marcus Hurd, was shot and critically injured.

The statement says the city's homicide unit has, since the slayings, developed "the evidence necessary to arrest ... Moore of Mattapan for this atrocious crime."

In 1996, Moore was convicted of manslaughter in the fatal stabbing of a Milton teen. According to court records, Moore, then 19, challenged Keema Jarius Braxton to a fight at a Mattapan party. Braxton pulled a knife, but Moore wrestled it from him and fatally stabbed Braxton.

Moore is the second arrest made in the investigation. Last month, authorities charged Kimani Washington, 35, of Dorchester, with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and receiving a stolen motor vehicle. He was not charged with murder.
