AP Source: Gonzalez In Boston For Physical
A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press that San Diego Padres All-Star slugger Adrian Gonzalez has flown to Boston to take a physical exam needed to complete a trade to the Red Sox.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because a trade hasn't been finalized.
Gonzalez had surgery on his right shoulder Oct. 20, and the Padres said then that the three-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove Award-winning first baseman was expected to be ready for spring training.
Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein did not respond to an e-mail seeking confirmation. Padres GM Jed Hoyer hasn't responded to a request for comment.
