Boston Herald Slashes Pages To Save Money

How about this for a headline: Herald Slashes Prime Real Estate!

The Boston Herald is cutting pages from its business section to save money. The daily tabloid is renaming the section "Biz Smart." Among the other sections losing space is "Lifestyle."

Like other newspapers nationally, the Herald has been hurt by advertisers, who have been shifting their spending online, and readers, who get the news online.

While the Herald’s circulation has not fallen as much recently as that of its chief competitor, the Boston Globe, it’s still down. As of September 2010, the Herald's weekday circulation had fallen nearly 10 percent from the same time the year before.

This program aired on January 31, 2011. The audio for this program is not available.
