New Bedford Named A Top Travel Destination

The city of New Bedford is getting a nod as a top travel destination. It is one of 12 places listed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as a "distinctive designation."

Mayor Scott Lang said he's very proud of the honor, saying it's the result of years of progress in the community.

"New Bedford has weathered this recession better than it ever has before. And we continue to move forward. We have tremendous optimism and a very diverse community that has band[ed] together," Lang said.

Other destinations include Colorado Springs and Sonoma, Calif.
