Gov. Patrick Returning From Trade Mission

Gov. Deval Patrick is returning to Massachusetts after a 10-day trade mission to Israel and the United Kingdom.

Patrick is expected to fly into Logan Airport late Thursday.

Patrick touted the mission as a way to strengthen business ties with the two countries, particularly in what he's described as the clean energy and technology "innovation economies."

Patrick has signed agreements for increased research and development collaboration, but critics are wondering what the governor has to show for his time abroad, noting that he's returning with few hard business deals in hand.

At the same time, while Patrick was away, Fidelity Investments announced it was moving more than 1,000 jobs out of state.

Patrick has fended off criticism of his travels, even as he gears up to stump for President Obama's re-election campaign.

This program aired on March 17, 2011. The audio for this program is not available.
