Boston Radio Talk Show Host Fired

A Boston radio talk show host suspended in the past for racially insensitive remarks has been fired a week after saying on air it's OK for male bosses to have sex with female subordinates and that he had done so himself when he owned his own company.

WTKK-FM management said Wednesday it had fired Jay Severin for failing to maintain an "appropriate level of civility" on air.

Severin was suspended two years ago for calling Mexicans "criminaliens," "primitives," "leeches," and exporters of "women with mustaches and VD."

Severin, who signed a seven-year, $1 million-per year contract in 2006 with the Greater Media Inc.-owned station, has seen ratings slip recently.

His attorneys said the termination was financially motivated and they plan to "pursue all of his rights under his contract."

This program aired on April 7, 2011. The audio for this program is not available.
