Freed NH Journalist Out Of Libya After 6 Weeks

A New Hampshire journalist held by the Libyan government for six weeks is out of Libya and in Tunisia.

James Foley of Rochester crossed the border on Thursday with fellow American journalist Clare Gillis after being taken to the border by a Hungarian diplomat.

Foley is a reporter for the Boston-based GlobalPost.

Reporters from Spain and Great Britain were also released.

Foley told the GlobalPost "it's an amazing feeling of freedom" to be in Tunisia.

He says he's humbled by the support he's received from friends and family.

Foley's mother, Diane Foley, says a big party is being planned for her son when he gets back to the United States.

Foley and two others were captured by Libyan government forces on April 5 while reporting on the Libyan conflict.
