Massport Names Top Lawyer Interim CEO

The Massachusetts Port Authority has named its top lawyer to lead the agency on an interim basis while it searches for a permanent CEO.

Chief Legal Counsel David Mackey was named Wednesday to lead the agency that oversees Logan International Airport and other facilities following the retirement of Thomas Kinton Jr on June 1.

The 54-year-old Mackey has been with Massport for a decade after spending seven years with the U.S. Attorney's office in Boston.

During his time at Massport, Mackey has led the agency's response to legal issues including runway development, post 9/11 security, the transfer of the Tobin Bridge to the state Transportation Department and the acquisition of Worcester Regional Airport.

A national search has been launched for Kinton's successor.

This program aired on May 19, 2011. The audio for this program is not available.
