Fall River Pool Inspectors Face Disciplinary Panel

Two Fall River health inspectors are facing a disciplinary board to explain why they didn't shut down a public pool where a woman's body may have gone unnoticed for more than two days.

The inspectors are scheduled to appear before the panel on Tuesday where they will be allowed to speak.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Pool at Lafayette Park has been closed since June 28 after the body of 36-year-old Marie Joseph was found floating on the surface, perhaps two days after she drowned. The state medical examiner ruled the death an accidental drowning.

The body was hidden in murky water that prevented a scuba diver from being seen at a depth of four feet on June 29.

The pool is state-owned, but the city is responsible for health inspections.
