10 Years Later: Remembering 9/11

How 9/11 Touched The Soul Of The City: Sharing Your Stories

This is your opportunity to share your personal accounts of Sept. 11 and its aftermath with the WBUR community — just you and a friend or family member in conversation, recorded at our studios or in your home. Excerpts of certain conversations will be broadcast on 90.9 WBUR.

We'll also create an archival Web page which will contain much more than your voices. So we’re also asking you to submit photos, video, tapes, letters, voice mail messages, maps and any other memorabilia you may have that will help tell your stories and make your memories more tangible.

We’ll accept as many participants as we can handle during August, so sign up soon!

What We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in how the events of 9/11 affected not just you, but also your relationships with your friends, family, children, co-workers and community. We’ll need one uninterrupted hour of your time; we’ll be recording you for up to 45 minutes, so you can relax and get into the flow of easy conversation with your loved one. One of you may play the role of “interviewer” and the other “storyteller.” Here are some questions for you to consider:

  • Where were you and what happened to you/your loved one on the day?
  • How did the events touch you personally?
  • How did you cope in the aftermath? How are you coping now?
  • How have your lives changed as a result?
  • How do you choose to commemorate the day on its anniversary?
  • What does 9/11 mean to you now, 10 years on?
  • What will it mean for your children/grandchildren?
