Small Businesses Could See Break On Health Insurance Costs

Thousands of small businesses in Massachusetts could soon get a break on health insurance costs.

What's called a group purchasing cooperative, formed by the Retailers Association of Massachusetts, will begin enrolling members this week and is promising discounts of at least 20 percent.

The projected savings come from a deal between Steward Health Care System and the Fallon Community Health Plan, under which patients would be funneled to Steward Hospitals for most of their care.

Undersecretary of the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation Barbara Anthony joined Morning Edition Tuesday to talk about how this program works.
